After a hugely successful first year, Challenge UK will be returning to Weymouth on 13th September 2015 to play host to the ETU European Long Distance Championships.

Just Racing UK and British Triathlon Federation have partnered up with The Weymouth Bid and Weymouth & Portland Borough Council to enable global coverage of Challenge Weymouth 2015. The event will be broadcast in a one hour TV programme broadcast all over the world. Channel 4, Sky Sports and Euro Sports will televise the programme to around 1 billion viewers! Presented by the well known Triathlon commentator Rob Walker, the programme will highlight this incredible event and showcase the athletes taking part. After the event the film footage will be used to promote local businesses and the area enabling the boroughs to attract visitors from all over the world.

Starting with a 2 lap 2.1 mile swim in the beautiful water of Weymouth Bay, the athletes then embark on a 112 mile bike route through the rolling Dorset Countryside. Taking in some stunning landscapes along the Jurassic Coastline the bike course offers the competitors a chance to get a fast time with partially closed roads. After exiting transition for the last time the competitors then set off onto the marathon leg of the race. Along the esplanade and down the infamous ‘beer mile’, this spectator friendly route enables athletes to get lots of support from family, friends and locals. It is a fantastic end to a truly spectacular event!

This year is bigger and better with over 1500 athletes from all over Europe flocking to Weymouth to take part in the ETU European Long Distance Championships. With some familiar faces returning such as previous Champion Stephen Bayliss, Yvette Grice and many more, the competition is heating up!
